Noted actor, director, playwright Kayes Chowdhury dies

Noted actor, director and playwright Kayes Chowdhury passed away at his
residence around 7:30pm on Thursday due to kidney-related complications. Kayes Chowdhury became a well-known face in the world of package tele-fiction with his wonderful playwright skills and amazing direction. Apart from acting and directing plays, he was also involved in the teaching profession.
Kayes Chowdhury was the playwright and director of BTV’s famous telefilm Na starring Tania Ahmed, Tony Dias, Somu Chowdhury, among others. He has also directed popular telefilms such as Swapno Ebong Tumi and Tritiyo Noyon. He also presented his outstanding acting skills in Chayanika Chowdhury’s telefilm Swapno Morubhumi and Saiful Islam Munna’s Goriber Kopal-e Shanti Nai. His performances in both works were highly appreciated by the viewers.
Throughout his career, Kayes Chowdhury created a lot of popular directors and playwrights under his guidance. His two assistant directors were National Film Award-winning director Saiful Islam Mannu and popular playwright Sathitho Rahman Rubel. Kayes Chowdhury’s Janaza was held after Jumma prayers at Dhanmondi Taqwa Masjid. Later on, he was buried at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard.
