With the Eid-ul-Fitr knocking at the door, all the shopping malls, and the makeshift street shops in the capital are crowded with customers of all walks of life. They are buying new clothes and other lifestyle items for their near and dear ones.
Realizing the customers’ demands, the shopkeepers are also displaying elusive and additional new collections their shops to attract the shoppers.
Visiting some major shopping malls and markets like New Market, Chandni Chawk, Gausia, Noor Mansion, Chandrima Super Market, Police Plaza
Shopping Centre and Bashundhara City Centre this correspondent found the customers pouring into the shops.
Shalwar Kameez and Sharee (Cotton, Muslin, Silk, Katan, Nakshi Kantha, Jamdani) are the main choice of the female customers. Besides, the young and teenage girls are buying kurta, taaga, panjabi, scarves, tops, pants and t-shirt, the shopkeepers said.
Deshi boutique dress, block batik screen print dress, high quality replica of Indian dress and Pakistani lawn are also the choices of the women customers, they said.
Yellow, Aarong, Anjans, Le Reve, Artisans, Cotton Kraft Ltd, SaRa Lifestyle Ltd, Benaroshi World, Tahoor, Livingtex, Vogue Sultana, M And N Fashion, Prem’s Collections, Sadakalo, Trendz, Theo, Fiona, Pakiza Group, Bibiana and Irani Borka Bazar are the major hub of the dresses.
Hadi S A Chowdhury, Head of Retail Operation of the Yellow, said, “All of our products are antimicrobial and user-friendly. We normally bring some novelty in our products every year. That is why, the customers choose our products.”
“We have around 350 new collections of style and design considering women’s choices with affordable price,” he added.
“Women lawn (two and three piece) and luxury lawn are getting popularity this year and all office going females can use it. Besides, the young girls are buying kurti significantly,” Hadi said.
Several shopkeepers said that customers can buy standard local, Indian, and Pakistani ladies wear collections within the average price range of TK 1500 to 4000.
However, some traditional weavers saw orders grow as the pandemic made handmade share, salwar kameez, and panjabi dearer, they added.
Sazzadur Rahman, Manager of an outlet of the Le Reve in Police Plaza Shopping Centre, said that they are offering customers top quality and professionally knitted women’s clothes at the affordable price.
The price range of the women’s wear is Tk 500 to Tk 10,000, he said.
Ashraful Alam, Chief Executive Officer of the Aarong, told the New Nation, “Taaga, women’s fusion wear, is the most popular dress among the young ladies. The customers, who are visiting our outlets, are trying to buy it.”
Due to the ongoing pandemic, many people have been staying at home and making online purchases. Businesses too migrated to selling their goods and services through digital platforms.
