The gas supply at CNG refuelling stations of the capital has returned to normalcy as the production at Bibiyana Gas Field resumed on completion of its maintenance work.
A senior official at Chevron also informed UNB that they have successfully completed scheduled maintenance works within the deadline.
Farhan Noor, secretary general of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners’ Association, told UNB on Thursday that the sales of gas to motorised vehicles resumed at the city’s CNG refuelling stations from zero hour on Thursday. The CNG refuelling stations had to suspend the gas sup
ply for 24 hours from Wednesday zero hour following a sudden instruction by the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, causing trouble to many in refuelling their cars. On Wednesday, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Wednesday termed the problem in gas supply to CNG stations temporary, saying the situation would get normal within a day.
Farhan Noor said, the CNG stations resumed the gas sales as per the timeline. “We have been selling gas from our pumps from zero hour on Thursday. Now the supply is normal,” he said.
He said, Titas Gas authorities conveyed the instruction asking the CNG pumps to suspend the gas sales to the association over telephone at 9 pm on Tuesday. “This ultimately put the motorised vehicles in trouble,” he said.
He also expressed their resentment over the notice of Titas Gas authorities to keep the CNG stations open for 24 hours for three days from before the Eid day to facilitate smooth journeys of the Eid holidaymakers.
The association leader alleged that bureaucrats disrespected the Road Transport and Bridges Minister’s instructions where he asked the CNG stations to keep open for 24 hours for one week from three days before the Eid day.
