There is a chance that Covid-19 transmissions will rise since the ongoing lockdown has been withdrawn for a week, health officials said on Wednesday.
“We think there is a chance transmissions will increase, as mass transport and shopping malls will reopen from tomorrow marking Eid,” Dr Robed Amin, spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a virtual briefing on Wednesday.
“The health directorate has been advising that health safety guidelines in transports, shopping malls, cattle markets, and other gathering places are maintained strictly,” he said.
He said the ongoing upward trend in deaths might continue for two or three more weeks. Infections will rise in this time if we do not adhere to health safety rules.
“As transmission is rising, there is a pressure on the hospitals. If we cannot keep the hospitals from crowding, we will fall into danger,” he added.
