Nogordola, a reputed local fashion house of the country, is facilitating underprivileged people especially the women by providing employment opportunities in their own organization.
About 5,000 people, most of them are women, are directly or indirectly involved with the fashion house.
The fashion house has started its journey in 2007 under the initiative of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) with a view to restoring the fashion heritage of the country.
Considering the necessity of saving the traditional fashion design of the country, the President of DAM Kazi Rafiqul Alam decided to establish Nogordola. Some eight outlets of the fashion house are operating their business across the country.
Talking to the New Nation Md. Rafiqul Islam, Director of Nogordola on Tuesday said that the organization enriched country’s cultural heritage through producing gorgeous designed dresses for all classes of people.
“We generally collect all traditional and non-traditional design from the rural areas across the country. After getting designs, the designer selected the final design and put the design on the products including sari, three-pieces”, said Rafiqul Islam.
Nogordola plans to establish 24 outlets by 2025 in order to expand its business, he said.
The Nogordola Director underscored the need for undertaking more proactive steps from local fashion houses to revive the cultural heritage of the country.
Nahida, a female worker of Nogordola Creative House said that she is receiving a handsome salary per month from the organization. “Now, I am capable to bear all expenses of my family and that is why I am grateful to the authority of Nogordola”, she said.
