Eminent Economist Dr. Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed said, there is no probability of signing Teesta water share agreement between Bangladesh and neighboring India soon.
“We all have known that everything was confirmed about signing an agreement about the water sharing of the river between the two neighboring countries. But, at last Momota Banarjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal said that she did not agree with the matter. So, the treaty remained a dream,” the Economist said it while addressing a programme organised by Bangladesh Workers Party in National Press Club on Saturday.
Mahmudul Hasan Manik presided the prgamme, while Fajle Hossain Badsha, MP, and Sheikh Rokon, Founder and Secretary General of Riverine People, among others, were gave speech.
Dr. Kazi Khaliquzzaman said, “Teesta treaty has not been signed. We do not think that it would take place in near future.”
He asked all to make a plan with the existing resources. The economist said that movement should be organised to protect the river, forests and land resources.
