The 20-party alliance is yet to get permission to hold its planned massive rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on August 19 to protest the anti-people National Broadcasting Policy-2014. The alliance sought permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for use of mike also in the rally. The alliance leaders have already sent a letter to the DMP in this connection.BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told The New Nation, “We have sent latter to DMP seeking permission for holding a rally and use of mike. But we have not received any response as yet.” “It has not been yet decided as to who will preside at the meeting and who will be the chief guest. We expect a massive gathering as people are with us, adding that the preparation for the meeting will be taken after obtaining the formal permission from the police,” said Rizvi.
