Police are yet to make headway into the murder of lawyer Fahmida Akhter Bithun two weeks after her death, much to the disappointment of her family.
Rampura Police Station OC Mahbubur Rahman Tarafdar says they are yet to get any ‘clue’.
He says, they cannot move ahead with investigation, until they get the post-mortem report.
The 45-year-old lawyer was found murdered at her flat in Rampura on January 30. Her hands and legs were tied. Two scarfs were found wrapped around her neck.
Police suspect it was a planned murder.
Her husband Golam Rabbani works with an international company stationed in Bahrain while their only son Siratul Mustakim is in the US pursuing higher studies.
Rabbani went to Bithun’s flat with law enforcers three days after the incident.
“I found about 50-55 bhoris (1 bhori=11.66 grams) of gold jewellery missing from home. Land documents and her mobile, were also missing,” he told bdnews24.com
He said, his wife, the daughter of former diplomat and journalist Akhter-ul-Alam, did not have enmity with anyone.
Bithun’s elder brother
Rejoanul Alam said they were worried as the post-mortem and viscera reports were not filed yet.
“We have confidence on our law enforcers but it’s true that we’re a bit anxious,” he said.
Rampura OC Mahbub said, “Police are looking into some other aspects of the murder but we can’t divulge anything now for the sake of investigation.”
