Police arrested Narayanganj city unit BNP general secretary ATM Kamal from Hajiganj M Circus area in Narayanganj city on Wednesday morning. Sources at Sadar Model Police Station said a team of them arrested Kamal while a group of BNP leaders and activists, including Kamal, were trying to bring out a procession in the area at about 8:00 am in support of the JCD’s 48-hour hartal on its first day. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal enforced the shutdown in Dhaka and Khulna divisions protesting the “killing” of its Khilgaon unit leader Nuruzzaman Jony by detectives.
