Traders fined for using polybags

Departments of Environment and Jute operating a joint drive on Monday noon in Bazar Road and Hatkhola area in Barisal city against using polythene bags and not using jute sacks and fined traders Tk 23 thousand and recovered 14 Kg polythene bags. Harunor Rashid, Inspector of Jute Department, said the drive was operated as government imposed ban from November 30, 2015 against using sacks other than made of jute for carrying paddy, rice, wheat, corn, sugar, fertilisers weighing more than 20 kg. Sukumar Biswas, divisional director of environment department, informed administrative magistrates Lutfunnesa Begum and Kazi Luthful Hasan, accompanying the drive led mobile court. The court fined Tk. 8 thousand to Bappi Stores, Habib Traders to Tk 5 thousand, Syed Amzad Stores and Messers Kamal Chandra Saha, to Tk 2 thousand each for founding polythene sacks. Besides court also fined Hariannda Store to Tk 3 thousand, Pannu Stores to Tk 2 thousand and Roma Mistanna Vandar to Tk.1 thousand for using banned polythene bags. The court also recovered 14 Kg polythene bags, sources said.
Two motor bikers killed in Jhenaidah road mishap

Two motor bikers were killed, while two passenger sustained severe injury when two bikes met a head on collision at Iswarba on Kaliganj-Kotchandpur Highway on Monday afternoon. One of the deceased was identified as Rabbi Alam 30, son of Jahangi Siddiquee while the other could not be identified immediately.Injured two were rushed to Kaliganj upazila health complex. The attending physicians had referred them to Jessore general hospital in a critical state.Locals said, each other it the opposite driver at about .00 PM with a heavy speed. Four of the riders sustained severe injuries and Rabbi and another friver fied at Kaliganj upazila health complex at about 4.30 pm. Kaliganj police officer in charge Anwar Hossain had confirmed the dead of the two and said, bodies of the deceased were sent to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination. No case was filed till filling of this report in the evening, OC said.
Death of journo Liakot Ali condoled at Monirampur
