Two poachers held with traps for catching deer

Two poachers of deer were arrested along with 15 traps for catching deer by the forest guards from Pajrafuta canal area within Charkhali forest camp under Sharankhola forest range in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest on Monday. Md. Kamal Ahmed, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Sharankhjola forest range said that on the day when a number of forest guards led by Abu Musa, in-charge of Charkhali forest camp were discharging their normal patrol duties in the forest found 2 poachers had been taking preparations for hunting deer from there. Then they arrested the poachers. At that time the forest guards recovered 15 traps made of Nylon ropes, a knife and 15 kgs polythene from their possession. The arrested poachers are Sohag Mridha (22), son of one Khalek Mridha of village Dakkin Chardoani within Patharghata Upazila under Barguna district and Asad Munshi (25), son of oneLatif Munshi of village Kalamegha under the same Upazila. In this connection a case was lodged with the local PS under Wild Animal Preservation Act. They were sent to the court.
3 women held while selling fake gold
LAXMIPUR: Police arrested three women for selling fake gold at Swarnapotti area in Sadar upazila on Monday night. The arrested were identified as Nasima Begum, wife of Haider Ali, Shilpi Akter, wife of Hazrat Ali, and Shahanara Begum, wife of Saidur Rahman, all hailing from Mirganj upazila of Rangpur district. Police said on a tip off, a team of police conducted a drive in Swarnapotti area and arrested the trio with the counterfeit gold on Monday night. Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Md Gias Uddin said a fraud syndicate has been selling fake gold in the area for a long time. Police will continue their drive to arrest the other members of the syndicate, added the OC, reports UNB.
Mozibur elected Khadapara UP chairman

 The by- election of Khadapara Union Parishad was held on Monday. In the election, out of 4 chairman candidates AL- supported Sardar Mojibur Rahman bagged 6 thousand 736 votes and unofficially elected chairman. On the other hand, his nearest candidate Ershad Ali bagged one thousand 601 votes. The other two Abdul Alim Zinnah and Mizanur Rahman bagged on thousand 357 and 992 votes respectively.
 The total votes of the union are 19 thousand 402. The polling was held at 9 polling centers. Mentionable one February 23 after the dead of chairman Omor Faruk, the post was vacant. None of 20 party alliance contested in the the election.
FF among 3 hurt in Sylhet rival attack

Three persons including a freedom fighter (FF) were injured in a rival attack that took place at Sadar upazila in Sylhet district on Sunday. The injured were identified as Watir Ali, 70, of Fagoil village of Hatkhola union under the upazila, his wife Begum Watir and son Khairul Mia.
Earthquake seminar held
A seminar titled “Earthquake: pre and post activities” was held at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Sunday. Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) department of the university organized the seminar around 11:00am at their seminar room. The fourth year students of the department presented the key notes paper on the seminar through multimedia on Nepal earthquake. Pre and post activities of earthquake and earthquake resistant structure of building construction also were discussed.
