2 held with 19 gold bars

JASHORE : Border Guard Bangladesh in separate drives arrested two people with 19 gold bars from Benapole Port Thana area in the district Tuesday. The detained were identified as Asha, 28, hailed from Benapole municipality area and Rahman Bishal, 27, a resident of Namaj village in the same upazila. Commander of 49 BGB Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Shahed Minhaj Siddique said, being informed, they stopped a motorcycle around 10.30pm in Maliputa area. The motorcyclist left his bike and ran away. After searching the motorcycle, the BGB men found 18 pieces of gold bars weighing 2.1 kilograms, Shahed Minhaj Siddique added. Besides, in another drive at Putkhali, BGB men seized a gold bar weighing 1.6kg. Asha and Rahman Bishal were held in the drive conducted around 11 pm, said Commander of 21 BGB battalion Mohammad Tanvir Rahman. Two separate cases were filed, reports BSS.

Foundation of Nasim Khan Memorial Hospital laid

Adv Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Presidium Member, Bangladesh Awami League and former State Minister for LGED had laid down the foundation stone of Nasim Khan Memorial Mother & Children Hospital at Khamarpara of Alamnagar in Rangpur recently. Among others, Awami League, Juba League, Chhatro League leaders and elite were present in the programme. Beside all the presidents and secretaries of Stranded Pakistanis General Repatriation Committee (SPGRC), Rangpur Branch attended the ceremony. The founder of this Hospital is Haroon-Ur-Rashid, son of late Alhaj M. Nasim Kahn, Chief Petron SPGRC Bangladesh also attended the ceremony. The chief guest Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanok requested all NGO’s, rich people, philanthropist to come forward and help construct the hospital. Man, women and children from 11 camps of Stranded Pakistanis in Rangpur will get free medical treatment from the hospital as there is no hospital near.
