28th Book Fair opens at Bhangura

K.M Khalid MP,State Minister for Cultural Affairs inaugurated the 28th Book Fair and Cultural Festival at the Government Bhangura Union School and College premises of Pabna on Tuesday afternoon . Alhaj Md. Mokbul Hossain, Member of Parliament from Pabna-3 and President, Ministry of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land Ministry was present as special guest on the occasion. Among others , Shamima Akter Additional Police Super of Pabna, Md Baki Billah Chairman of Bhangura Upazila Parishad, Md. Shahiduzzaman Principal Govt. Haji Jamal Uddin College, Golam Hasnain Rashel Mayor of Bhangura Municipality,UNO Syed Ashrafujjaman of Bhangura Upazila, Raqibul Islam Babul Secretary of Sacheton spoke in the inaugural ceremony. Md Abdul Khaleque, President of Sacheton Literary-Cultural Council presided over the meeting. The Book Fair for eight days has been organized by Bhangura Sacheton-Literary-Cultural Council as every year. The fair will run till 10th March.
5 Joyeeta women accorded reception in Khulna

A total of five Joyeeta women in Khulna Division were accorded to reception for making valuable contribution to the field of women empowerment. Earlier, they were given the Joyeeta award as recognition for their laudable contribution to social development. Khulna Divisional Administration and Directorate of Women Affairs office jointly organised the function titled “Joyeeta Annesone Bangladesh” at theofficer’s club auditorium in the city on Tuesday. Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the award giving ceremony as the chief guest with Divisional Commissioner Dr Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader in the chair. Director of Local Government in Khulna Division Hossain Ali Khondokar, its Deputy Director Md Iqbal Hossain, Deputy Director of Khulna Women Affairs Department Nargis Fatema Zamin addressed the function as special guests. Mayor Khaleque said the government has taken various initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that women can play an important role in socioeconomic development. Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in women empowerment which has been lauded globally, he added.The Joyeeta award was introduced for encouraging women to overcome different hurdles for their advancement in the society.
One held with arms, ammo in Jashore

Police arrested an alleged arms trader and recovered a pistol and ammunition from Birampur area under Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday morning. The arrested was identified as Ismail Mandal, 30, son of Isharat Mondal of Birampur-Bhatapara area under the upazila. Officer-in-Charge of Jashore Kotwali Model Thana Mohammad Moniruzzaman said, on secret information, a team of the police conducted a raid in the area behind Birampur Primary School and nabbed Ismail with a 7.65 bore pistol, two magazines and six rounds of bullets as he was waiting for a buyer to sell the weapons. A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Model thana in this connection.
