Youth dies from electrocution in Magura

A young man was electrocuted at Bhayna More in the district town on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam,28, son of Rabiul Islam, a resident of Mirzapur village in Sadar upazila. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Jahangir Alam said Rafiqul was severely injured as he came in contact with a snapped electric wire while doing electric work inside a building in the area in the morning. He was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injures. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
Youth commits suicide

One youth committed suicide by jumping under a patrol police microbus at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram on Sunday evening. Eyewitness said a requisite microbus carrying patrol police was going towards Nageswari upazila. At that time Sohel Rana, 28 son of Chamir Uddin of village Chandrakhana under Phulbari upazila suddenly jumped under the microbus and injured seriously. Police members rescued him and taken to Phulbari upazila Health Complex and later he was shifting in Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition was died on the way. He was mentally disordered, local sources said. Officer-in-charge of Phulbari thana Bazlur Rashid admitted the incident and told that no complain was lodged from the deceased family.
Khulna DAB boycotts election

Doctors Associations of Bangladesh (DAB) boycotted Khulna BMA election scheduled to be held on 12th March next.
The leaders of association announced it yesterday at Khulna Press Club yesterday morning. Dr.Rafiqul Haq Bablu and Dr. Aktaruzzaman President and Secretary of BMA respectively were present in the conference. Government supported Shadinata Chikitsak Parishad led by Dr. Baharul Alam has created a panicky situation openly among the doctors in Khulna in many ways. Transferring of three senior doctors before the election, threatening doctors of BNP, Jamate Islami followers not to go at vote center etc were the main allegations against him. The doctors of BNP Jamat followers are being harassed at their workplace.
5 arrested for marketing date-expired cold drinks in Barisal

Detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan Police on early Monday arrested 5 persons for attempting marketing of date-expired cold drinks.Azad Rahman, assistant commissioner of BMP(DB), said they conducting a raid on Sunday night searched the godown of Messers Alvi enterprise at Hatkhola area of the city. There it was found that a group of people engaged in stamping fresh dates of expiary cleaning old dates with chemicals on the different brands of date-expired cold drinks.Different sizes of total 710 liters date-expired cold drinks of Merinda, Pepsi, Seven-up brands worth Tk. 2.77 laks were recovered from the godown during the raid. Rafikul Islam Russel, dealer of company and his employees Zakir Hossain, Riaz, Mithu, Nayon were arrested from the spot.
