Warm clothes distributed among cold-hit people in dists

Warm clothes among 700 cold-hit poor people were distributed in Raumari upazila of Kurigram organised by Healthy Heart Happy Life Organisation (HELO) on Friday.
HELO members distributed blankets, jackets and sweaters among the poor people at the Baitkamari Govt Primary School field, said a press release. HELO General Secretary Dr Asifur Rahman Sazal said they have also taken a permanent charity and health awareness programme in Raumari.
Meanwhile, HELO organised a meeting on health awareness and prevention of heart disease at Raumari Health Complex on Thursday.
Adv ARM Kaiyum Khan presided over the meeting while Dr Mohsin Ahmed and Dr Ariful Rahman attended it as discussants. Locals participated in the programme.
Dr Md Mominul Islam Humayun of the health complex was also present, said the press release.
HELO is a non-government, voluntary, no-political and unprofitable organisation which is working among the people with the slogan “Awareness for humanity, charity and research”.
The organisation is mainly playing a role in human development by providing awareness, research and necessary services on various issues of the society.
BSS from Gaibandha says: A total of 500 cold victims of Kunderpara char and its adjoining areas under Kamarjani union of Sadar upazila got blankets from district police on Saturday to mitigate their sufferings caused by the existing cold wave.A simple function organized by Sadar thana police was also held on the premises of Kunderpara Gana Unnayan Academy of the union on Saturday noon while MJL Bangladesh Ltd, Dhaka sponsored the programme.Superintendent of police (SP) Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah addressed the

maintaining the law and order situation peacefully in all the seven upazilas of the district.SP Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah in his speech thanked the authorities of MJL Bangladesh Ltd for standing beside the cold hit people of the chars here with quality blankets aimed at lessening their sufferings caused by the present sweeping cold wave.The SP also urged all other humanitarian and volunteer organisations including well off sections of the society to stand beside the cold stricken people of the district. Later, the guests formally disbursed the blankets to the selected cold victims of the chars.After getting the blankets, all the beneficiaries were in pleasant mood and expressed their gratefulness to the district police and the MJL Bangladesh
Ltd for providing them with quality blankets free of cost.
A large number of char dwellers, students, teachers, SMC members, public representatives and social workers including journalists of print and electronic media took part in the programmes spontaneously.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: More than 300 poor and distressed cold-stricken people were given blankets for lessening their sufferings caused by the present sweeping cold wave in the city.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) donated and distributed the blankets at its school premises in Hetemkha area on Friday .
BDRCS City unit Vice-President Rejaul Karim, General Secretary Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Executive Members Prof Nurul Hossain Chowdhury, Prof Farida Sultana, Prof Abdus Salam, Dr Masudul Haque and Advocate Jamshed Ali were present on the occasion. Speakers said the BDRCS will extend more cooperation towards the distressed and needy people in the days ahead.
They urged all other humanitarian and volunteer organisations including public and private sectors, banks and other financial establishments to stand beside the cold-hit people to lessen their sufferings during the cold weather.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud distributed blankets among a large number of cold-stricken distressed people of the city on Thursday night.
Alim visited different areas around midnight and distributed the blankets from his own contribution among the cold-hit street beggars, distressed men, women and children, at several spots of the metropolis to mitigate their sufferings.
