15 teens get bicycle after 40 days of prayer in Sylhet

15 teenagers were rewarded for their 40 days of five-time prayer at Syed Hatim Ali Mazar Jame Mosque in Shibganj, Sylhet city.The bicycles were handed over to the teenagers on Tuesday afternoon. It is reported that a competition was organized to encourage children and adolescents at local level in a joint initiative of Syed Hatim Ali Mazar Jame Mosque Authority and Talimuddin Academy.The competition started on December 16. 33 children from the area participated in the event. The award ceremony was attended by Muhaddis Maulana Ataul Haq Jalalabadi of Dargah Madrasa, Councilor Azadur Rahman Azad of Ward No 29, Wardak Councilor Abdur Rakib Tuhin, Maulana Sharif Muhammad among others.
Seminar on river, environ held in K’ganj

A technical seminar on River, Haor and Environment was organised by Environment, River, Protection Committee at local Poura Mohila College playground on Friday. Rejowan Ahamed Tofique MP attended as Chief Guest while Zila Praished Chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman presided over. It was addressed among others by Prof Dr. Md. Khaliluzzaman of Haven University USA, Haor Specilist Dr. Halim Dad Khan, Dr. Azar Ali Consultant of World Bank, Former Poura Mayor Abu Taher Miah, Prinicpal Sherif Sadi, Enginer Enayetur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club Preisdent Mostafa Kamal, Egineer md. Sad, Senior Journalist Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu, Professor M.A Goni of TIB, Shafiqul Islam Manik and Brishak League Leader Anowar Hossion Bacchu. At least 500 people participated the seminar.
Blankets distributed in Jamalpur

Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit people at A.M. in Jamalpur Sadar Kendua Union recently. A olunteer service organization Gyan-Shikhya-Bonodon aranged it. Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Mohammad Abul Hossain, President of Gyan-shikhya-Bonodon Poet Md. Rafiqul Islam Raju, Prof Amir uddin, Kendua UP Chairman Sheikh Md. Mahbubur Rahman Manju, Kendua Union Awami League President Fojlol Haque Norol, Sergeant Ltd Md. Shafiqul Islam Mukul and among others were present.
One electrocuted in Bagerhat

Tonmoy Biswas (26), a lineman of Pally Bidyut Samity, Bagerhat met his tragic end when he was electrocuted at the time of working on an electricity pole in the village Sabekdanga under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Friday noon. The deceased was the son of one Harishchandra Biswas of village Rangpur under Dumuria Upazila in Khulna district. Locals said that in the village at noon ill-fated Tonmoy Biswas climbed an electricity pole in order to work there. But unfortunately at that time suddenly the electricity was supplied to the line. As a result, he was electrocuted, fell on the ground from the top of the pole and sustained fatal injuries on his person. He was immediately rushed to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where the physicians on duty declared him dead.
One killed in Fakirhat road mishap
A day labour named Lytu (26) was killed in a road mishap took place on Khulna-Mawa Highway at Kakdanga under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Friday noon. The deceased was the son of one Sekendar Ali of village Majhidanga under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district. Rabiul Islam, OC of Katakhali Highway PS (under Fakirhat Upazila) told, late Lytu was waiting at Kakdanga village of Khulna-Mwa High for a bus.
