Two drug peddlers arrested and arms ammunitions, drugs recovered from them in two separate drives of Rapid Action Battalion and Detective Branch of Barishal Metropolitan Police on early Monday. Both of the arrestees were sent to jail after producing before the court on Monday afternoon. Among them Arif Khandokar, 33, a wanted drug peddler was arrested by RAB-8 from Vatarkhal area of the city. From the possession of the arrestee 93 pieces of Yaba, 15 bottles phensidyl, 2 revolvers, 6 rounds ammunitions, one magazine of pistol were recovered, said Luthfar Rahman, Deputy Assistant Director of RAB-8. Arrested Arif was wanted as an accused of more than half dozen cases and two cases under arms and narcotic control acts were lodged against him on Monday with Barishal Kotwali police station, RAB sources said. Besides detective branch of Barishal Metropolitan police operating drive at Lechu Shah Road of College Avenue under ward 20 of Barishal City Corporation arrested drug peddler Zahidul Islam Mahin, 26, on early Monday. Sub Inspector Helaluzzaman of DB BMP, said 100 pieces Yaba tablets were recovered from his possession and lodging a case under narcotic control act with Barishal Kotwali police station he was sent to jail after producing before the court, DB sources said.
Seminar on foreign job held at Baraigram

A press conference and seminar on Foreign Job” was held at Baraigram Upazila Auditorium in Nature on Monday . The seminar was presided over by UNO Md Anwar Parves and it was addressed among others by Upazila Chairman Dr. Siddikur Rahman Patwari, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Ikbal Ahmed, Principal Usman Gani, Principal of Natore Technical Training Centre Md Golam Nabi, Instructor Md Mahfuz Hossain, UP Chairman Abdus Salam and journalist Shekh Tofazzal Hossain. Also, Bonpara Pouro Mayor KM Jakir Hossain, Upazila Mahila Vice Chairman Surya Akhter Koli, Acting Upazila AL Chairman Abdus Kuddus Miyaji, General Secretary Adv. Mizanur Rahman were present as special guests. About 100 officers, UP chairmen, teachers and journalists took part in the seminar. Video Conference of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on foreign job was shown with a projector at the seminar.
One held with 3,245 yabas in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged illegal drug peddler with 3,245 Yaba tablets from Belal Bazar area under Gomostapur upazila of the district recently. The arrested person was identified as M Arafat Hossain, 30, son of M Azizul Islam of Gaginagar Sanabhanga village under Patnitala upazila in Naogaon district. On a tip-off, a team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp conducted a raid in the area at around 4:45 pm and arrested Arafat with the Yaba tablets, a RAB official said. A case was filed with Gomostapur police station in this connection.
