JL leader held with firearm in N’ganj
NARAYANGANJ: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel arrested a local leader of Jubo League (JL), youth front of the ruling Awami League, along with a firearm in Shahid Bappi Sarani area in the district town on Monday. The arrested is Tabir Hossain Khan alias Pavel, 39, information and research secretary of Dhaka district unit JL. Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-charge Manjur Quader said a team from special crime prevention company of Rab 11 arrested Pavel along with one short gun and two cartridges from the area in the morning. Afterwards, he was handed over to Narayanganj Sadar police who produced him before a local court seeking a 7-day remand in a case, hearing of which will be held later, reports UNB.
2 Shibir men held in Bogra

Police arrested two activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, while pasting posters against government in Sayed Ahmed College Station area in Sonatala upazila on Monday night. The arrestees were identified as Jobayer, 21, and Tajul Islam, 20. Police said local Bangladesh Chhatra League men caught the two Shibir activists in the area while they were pasting posters defaming the government at about 8:00 pm. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and arrested them. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB..
Man crushed to death by train in Kurigram
KURIGRAM: A mentally retarded man was crushed to death by a train at Jonaidanga in Ulipur upazila on Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Rahim Badsha, 45, son of Nurul Islam of Naura village of the upazila. Witnesses said the Parbatipur-bound train from Ramna railway station hit Rahim in the area at about 2:30 pm while he was crossing the tracks, leaving him dead on the spot. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
