Training workshop held in Chapainawabganj

A two- day long training workshop on capacity building of women was held at Nayalabhanga under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Monday and Tuesday.
The inaugural function was held on Monday at the UP conference room with the chairman of the UP Ashraful Hoque in the chair. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Syed Irtiza Ahsan inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest.It was arranged under LGSP Project 2. Vice Chairman of Shibganj upazila Sayema Khatun, upazila social service officer Rabiul Islam, assistant commissioner (land) Afaj Uddin, OC of Shibganj thana Moinul Islam and upazila women affairs officer Shahida Akhtar attended the workshop as resource persons.Different issues like role of non-government organizations for the development of women, importance of forming women forum, empowerment of women for the development of the country, role of women in building Digital Bangladesh, family planning, checking rise of population, eve-teasing, early marriage, polygamy and dowry and ensuring social security of women were discussed during the two days. Another two day long workshop on creating women entrepreneurs was held on Sunday and Monday at Moharajpur UP conference room in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.

Police inter-district motorcycle thief at Phulbari

Police arrested an inter-district a motorcycle thief of Abu Sayed (50) with the stolen motorcycle in Phulbari Upazila in Dinajpur district on Tuesday. He was identified as Abu Sayed, son of Abdul Rahman of Mantapara village in Badargonj in Rangpur district. Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.B.M Rezaul Islam said, Abu Sayed worn by local businessman Mohsin Ali bajaj100 cc motorcycles to sell a stolen motorcycle documents actually doubt his talk he inform the local police station. Woman dies in road accident at Kaharol

Shahina Akhtar, a woman was killed in a road accident in Birgonj upazila in dinajpur district on 29th December Monday.Shahina Akhtar was office assistant cum computer operator of kaharol upazila co-operative office. Shahina Akhtar way to office place called prem bazar when the bus hit a tree Shahina Akter with five people died on the spot, Shahina Akhtar family said.

RAB recovers drugs in Faridpur

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) – 8 stationed at Faridpur recovered huge quantity of various types of drugs from two places of this district yesterday. According to a press release issued by the elite force that in two separate drives carried on near Monsurabad bridge area of Bhanga – Gopalganj highway RAB nabbed one youth identified as Rajib Chokdar, 28 and recovered 550 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession. RAB conducted the drive led by Company Commander (CC) Major Mojammel Hossain on the basis of secret information. The second drive was conducted yesterday at the centre place of the town Jhiltuli area surrounded by schools and colleges, posh residential area and also few hundred yards from Kotwali police station when a youth named Md Parvez Sheikh, 28 was nabbed along with 60 bottles of contraband liquor phensidyl. RAB members were led by CC Major Mojammel Hossain.

Golden jubilee of BTV celebrated in Sylhet

The week-long celebration of the fiftieth founding anniversary (golden jubilee) of Bangladesh Television (BTV) began here on Thursday amid huge enthusiasm through various programmes. The the finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Mohid addressed a brief discussion arranged at Kazitula BTV Sylhet Cenere as the chief guest with Sylhet District Correspondent of BTV Aziz Ahmed Salim in the chair. Mahmudus Samad Chy. MP, Kayea Chy. MP, Zila AL secretary Shofiqur Rahman Chy.
Former mayor city Awami League President Bodar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, addressed as the special guests.
The speakers highly lauded the role of the state-run BTV, the first Bengali language television in the world, in the process of building an exploitation-free, non-communal and prosperous Bangladesh in line with the spirit of the War of Liberation.
