Bumper production of traditional ‘Lafa Brinjal’ in Gafargaon under Mymensingh has changed the lot of over 500 growers in this current season.
People looked at the traditional ‘Lafa’ brinjal at Gafargaon with wonders. Now for various reasons ‘Lafa Brinjal’ has extricated. This ‘Lafa Brinjal’ is only cultivated at Kacharipara of Gafargaon .
Now this Lafa Binjal has been facing extinction for various reasons and it was cultivated at Kacharipara of Charmoslondo village in Charalgi Unioin under Gafargaon Upazila.
In spite of being lost Lafa Brinjal and long brinjal are being cultivated in the horizon of Gafargaon. The round brinjal of Gafargaon is famous for all over the country yet.
By cultivating brinjal at least 500 brinjal farmers of 4 unions including Charalgi Union of Gafargaon Upazila lead a well off happy life. In this year the round and long brinjal production is getting bumper. To meet up the demand of Gafargaon people his brinjal is marketed through all over the country
The wheels of fortune of more than 500 farmers have been changed by cultivating this round and long brinjal at the different villages of Charalgi, Datterbazar, Tangabo and Panchbag Unions at Gafatgaon Upazila under Mymensingh.
Getting bumper production of brinjal , the farmers are now very happy to get due price of brinjal in the market. Only dependent on paddy field, the brinjal cultivation has brought a new dimension. This successful evolution of Agriculture has been keeping important contribution on the livelihood of farmers. The produced brinjal of this 4 unions is being sent to the Capital city Dhaka including many districts.
Because of huge fertility of soil at the villages of Charalgi, Datterbazar, Tangabo, unions, this vegetable is cultivated more and profitable than paddy cultivation.At present Noyapara, Charmoslonda, Jilatipara, Kacharipara, Kurutolipara, Burakhali, Nidhierchar, Vatipara, Charkamaria, Charalgi village of Charalgi Union, Brahmankhali, Dubasia, Baroihati, Tangabo villages of Tangabo Union, Charshankhchura, Khurshidmahal, Gavishimul, villages of Panchbag Union are being produced largely.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Deepok Kumar Paul informed, the bumper production of brinjal has become at Charalgi, Datterbazar, Tangabo and Panchbag Unions at Gafatgaon Upazila in this year.
Brinjal farmer Masud Rana of Noyapara village of Charalgi Union said, he has cultivated on 110 decimal land and at this he has spent Tk 80 thousand .
In the meantime he has sold more than TK- 150000 brinjal. He hopes to sell brinjal about TK-14000- 150000 at least. Besides this Hafij Uddin, 65 decimel, Kafil Uddin-30 decimal, Tafazzal Mea 35 decimal, Jamu Mea- 25 decimal lad have cultivated brinjal in their lands.
