Two killed in Sherpur road crush

 Two people were killed in a road incident at Kumri Battala area in Sherpur sadar upazila of Sherpur district at about 9.30 pm on Thursday . The deceased were identified as Md Jaynal Mia, 35, and Md Arif Hossain, 28, of Narayanpur area of Sherpur town of the district. Sources said Jainal and Arif were returning home from Jhenaigati with a motor bike. At Kumri Battala point of Jhenaigati-Sherpur highway there occurred a face to face collision with a truck which was coming from opposite direction. They died on spot. The truck driver ran away at once. Officer- in- Charge of Sherpur sadar thana Mazharul Karim confirmed about the two killing and said that the two dead bodies were taken to Sadar thana.
 Seminar on development of science edn held in Bagerhat

Under the auspices of NGO Badhan and with the financial support of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation a seminar on the science education was held in the local Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday morning with Saif Uddin Ahmed, President of the NGO to develop the science education and make it popular in the secondary education (High School) level of the country. The seminar was inaugurated by Alhaj Dr. Mozammel Hossain, MP of Bagerhat constituency-4 and former deputy minister.as the chief guest. While the chief guest was addressing the seminar he said, no country can be prosperous and developed without science and technology. So, we should give much emphasis on the science education in the high school level. The seminar was also addressed among others by Prof. Mozaffar Hossai, a former science teacher of Bagerhat Govt. P.C. College, Adv. Shah-e-Alam Baschu, Chairman, Morrelganj Upazila Parishad, Shaikh Shariful Kamal Karim, Cjhairman of Fakirhat Upazila Parishad, Md. Mizanur Rahman, District Secondary education, Bagerhat, Sukhendra Nath Gain, district Live Stock Officer, Bagerhat, Mukharjee Rabindra Nath , Headmaster of local Adarsha Maddhymik Biddalaya, Sajjadur Rahman Chowdhury, Ececutive Director of BFF and Manjurul Hasan Milon, ED, NGO Badhan, It was attended by Headmasters of 30 High Schools of Fakirhat Upazila in the district and others.
Blankets distributed in Chapainawabganj

Ranihati Sadharan Pathagar in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district distributed 1,000 blankets among cold hit poor people of the area on Thursday. The blankets were distributed to mark the founding anniversary of the pathagar, sources in the pathagar said. A function was arranged on the Ranihati High School premises on the occasion with the president of the pathagar Engineer Mahtab Uddin in the chair. It was addressed among others, by Justice Emdadul Hoque, director of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and joint secretary Mojibur Rahman, senior scientific officer of Rangpur Soil Research Development Institute Dr. Begum Samia Sultana and secretary of the pathagar Ashiq Iqbal. Before this, a colourful rally was taken out in the area.
3 held with 500 Yaba tablets in Jessore
BENAPOLE: Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in possession of 500 pieces of Yaba tablet from Nabharan College area in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Thursday night. The arrestees were identified as Fatema, wife of Habibar Rahman Habi, Jahangir, son of Abdul Gaffar, and Rafiqul, son of Mafizur Rahman. They hail from Namaz village of Benapole. Sahidar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a raid on a house in the area at night and arrested the trio. Police also recovered 500 pieces of highly amphetamine Yaba tablet from the house. The arrestees have long been involved in trading of Yaba tablets in the area, the OC added.A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
