India to install 251-meter statue in Mumbai

The statue of the principal architect of the Indian Constitution will be installed inside the Indu Mills at Dadar in Mumbai.
The 251-meter-tall Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue is designed to be put on a 100-meter platform, making the landmark at a total height of 350 meters, according to the Free Press Journal report on Monday.

Qatar warns of ‘long-lasting’ impact of Gulf crisis

Qatar’s ruler said Tuesday “crises pass” but warned of “long-lasting” scars from a diplomatic dispute that has seen Doha isolated by Saudi Arabia and its allies for more than a year.
In an annual address to the nation, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani pointedly called on other Gulf states to respect Qatar’s sovereignty and not “interfere” in other countries’ affairs. “History teaches us that crises pass, but their mismanagement may leave behind long-lasting effects,” Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said.

8 feared dead in Marseille building collapse

As many as eight people might have died in the southern French city of Marseille in two building collapses, officials said Tuesday after the first body was pulled out from the wreckage. Rescuers worked throughout the night to look for victims in the rubble of two dilapidated apartment blocks which collapsed suddenly on Monday morning not far from the centre of the Mediterranean port city.

Fighting in Kandahar kills 6 militants

At least six militants have been killed and three others injured as government forces launched cleanup operations in Kandahar, said a local official here on Tuesday.
According to the official with the public relation office of the provincial government, who declined to be identified, the operations covered parts of Miwand, Jalai and Panjwai districts in the wee hours of Tuesday. Six security personnel, including two soldiers and two police personnel, have also been injured, the official added.
