BNP barred from holding procession in Barisal Barisal CorrespondentPolice on Sunday barred activists of Barisal city and district units of Bangladesh Nationalist Party to hold agitation procession on road protesting denial of government against holding rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on occasion of ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’. BNP activists from different corners of the city chanting slogans assembled in front of the party office at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises at about 11:00 AM on Sunday. There Advocate Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, city president and central organising secretary, Ebaidul Huq Chan, district president and other leaders of BNP addressed the rally. They accused the AL-led government for running autocratic rule and called people to oust the present government by creating mass upsurge for restoration of democracy.Competition of rural games held in Barisal The Divisional competition of twelve rural games was held at Barisal outer stadium on Saturday.Barisal Divisional Commissioner Md. Gaus inaugurated the day-long competitions participated in twelve events including climbing on oily bamboo, Ha-Du-Du, Dariyabandha, Chara-Khela, Ekka-Dokka, Kana-machhi by more than fifty competitors from six districts of Barisal.Among Alamgir Hossain Alo, divisional secretary, Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner and Barisal district sports association president, Asaduzzaman Khashru, divisional football association resident, deputy commissioners of other five districts, police and sports association officials participated in the inaugural ceremony.Total 300 competitors participated in sports and the divisional level winner will participate in the national competition, Alamgir Hossain Alo said. Student violated in Jhenidah Jhenidah CorrespondentA class four girl student was allegedly violated at Kacherkole village under Shailokupa upazila under Jhenidah in the night of Friday. A local rascal Saidul Mollah alias Tikka Mollah, 38 had violated her, said the police and the family sources of the victim. She is a student of Kacherkol government primary school. They said, the girl, a daughter of a rickshaw-van puller of Kacherkole village was sleeping in her kitchen. At about 11.00 PM some Saidul Mollah alias Tikka Mollah had taken her on the bank of pond owned by Sarafat Hossain and violated her repeatedly. Hearing hue and cry of the girl, locals rushed there, while the rapist had managed to flee. The elder brother of the victim had filed a case with Shailokupa police station in this connection. Shailokupa police station sub inspector Mizanur Rahman said, they will send the victim to Jhenidah sadar hospital for medical test. The rapist is yet to be nabbed, the SI added.
