The construction work of Bagerhat-Tungipara via- Chitalmari and Patgati 40 kilometer highway at a cost of Tk.112 cr was ceremonially inaugurated by Shaikh Sarhan Naser Tonmoy, son of Shaikh Hela Uddin, nephew of Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahman and MP of Bagerhat Constituency-1 at Chitalmari point on Sunday at noon in presence of a distinguished gathering including Md. Abu Sayeed, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Chitalmari, Md. Abul Hossain Khan, in-charge of President, Chitalmari Upazila Awami League, Pizus Kanti Roy, Genral Secretary of Upazila Awami League, Anisuzzaman Masud, Executive Enginner of Roads and Highways, Bagerhat, Al-haj Shaikh Nizamuddin, UP Chairman of Chitalmari Sadar and Shekhar Bakt, Secretary of Chitalmari Press Club.
Jhenidah schoolgirl killed in snakebite
JHENIDAH: A schoolgirl was killed in a snakebite at Hiradanga village in Sadar upazila on Monday. The deceased was identified as Kakoli Khatun, 15, a Class-X student and daughter Khabir Uddin of the village. Kakoli’s father said a poisonous snake bit her in the early hours. She was taken to a local shaman at Falia village where she died around 9 am, reports UNB.
