Housewife gang-raped, 5 held in Pakundia

A housewife was allegedly gang raped by some youths at papaya garden in Ghagra area in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday evening. The victim was identified as Tanjina Khatun wife of Sumon Miah of Katiadi upazila. Tanjina was going to his relatives house in Pakundia. Acting Police Super Sahfiqul Islam said that we received the information and visited the spot. Police also arrested five rapist named Rubal (19), Mizan (23), Sohag (20), Rayhan (19) and Dalim (25) and recovered the many condoms. The victim’s sent to 250- Bed General Hospital for her proper treatment. A case was filed in this connection with Pakunida Police Station with 8 youths.The arrested person were sent to Kishoreanj District Jail.
Freshers’ reception to BNBC in Dupchanchia

A fresher reception function of Boro Nilahali Beragram Collage (BNBC) was held with much enthusiasm under Dupchanchia upzila of Bogura district on Sunday. The whole function was presided over by the honorable president of the collage’s governing body Maruf Islam Talukder prince while Member of Parliament (MP) Alhaj Nurul Islam Talukder was speaking here as Chief Guest.The colorful programme which beings at 9.00 AM with the welcome speech of the principal of the collage Masudur Rahman and in operation of English lecturer Emdadul Haque with the presence of fresher students. Student of HSC 2nd year Shakila Khatun, lecturer Mamunur Rashid, president of upazila Jatiya Party Alhaj Taslim Uddin, secretary of the party SM Sayed and Abul Hossain spoke among others in the function.
Female students vow to build child marriage free-society
PANCHAGARH: Over 700 female students of eight highschools at a rally here have vowed for building a society free from child marriage that shatters life of the girl children and hindering femaleeducation.Debiganj upazila administration in association with the social advocacy and knowledge dissemination unit of RDRS Bangladesh organised the rally with assistance of Palli Karma Sohayok Foundation at Laksmirhat under Debiganj upazila yesterday, a press release said yesterday. Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ram Krishna Barman addressed the discussion arranged on the occasion to create social awareness for preventing child marriage and promoting female education as the chief guest.With Coordinator (Microfinance) of RDRS Bangladesh Gautam Halder in the chair, Upazila Vice-chairman Parimal Dey Sarker and Programme Manager (Microfinance) for Panchagarh Rezaul Karim addressed the occasion as special guests. Earlier, the female students, who are members of the Adolescents’ Clubs and Youth Forums of the schools, their teachers and guardians, brought out the rally. Later, they took oath for creating social awareness to resist child marriage and promote female education, flourish leadership and empowerment of women for building a better society.The speakers called upon the adolescents, their guardians and local public representatives to prevent any child marriage through collective initiatives, reports BSS.
