Harvest of Boro paddy ends in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Harvest of Boro paddy, a high value crop, ended in all the seven upazilas in the district this month amid much enthusiasm to the farmers. Office sources said Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) set a target to cultivate Boro paddy on a total 1,27,857 hectares of land in the district this year with the production target of 5,22,578 tonnes of rice. Later, the target fixed by the department was exceeded and the paddy was farmed on 1,30,670 hectares of land bringing more 2,813 hectares of land by virtue of favorable climatic condition during the current season. Of them, some 21,060 hectares of land were brought under the cultivation in Sadar Upazila, 15,780 in Sadullapur Upazila, 13,680 in Palashbari Upazila, 30,950 in Gobindaganj Upazila, 25,500 in Sundarganj Upazila, 15,000 in Shaghata Upazila and 8,700 in Fulchhari Upazila. As the Boro paddy grew well on the land during the current season, the growers harvested the crop amid much enthusiasm and got bumper production this season , reports BSS.
BSD starts fund collection campaign

Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) has started fund collection program for BCC election in different way for maintaining election expenditure. BSD district and City unit holding a press conference at their party office in Fakirbari Road of the city on Saturday revealed this fact. In the press conference BSD Mayoral Candidate Dr. Manisha Chakrabarty said that they have started receiving collections of money deposited on clay pots (locally known as Matir-bank) from their supporters and voters, mostly from lower income and middle class earning groups. She also said they started this fund collection campaign for bearing election expenditure since two months ago by distributing over two hundred money collection pots and selling their party periodicals, books to the citizens. Through this process already about one lakh taka collected and we hoped that at least Taka 3 lakhs would be collected before election which could be sufficient to bear our election expenses connecting voters with the process, Dr. Manisha told.
Awareness build-up meeting on road accident held

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly organised advocacy on discussion for reducing road accidents and creating public awareness held at local collectorate staff club auditorium on Sunday. Acting Deputy Commissioner and DS Torafder Md Akhter Jamil attended as chief guest while Additional District Magistrate Md. Alamgir Hossen in the chair. It was addressed among others by Acting Police Super Md Shafiqul Islam as special guest, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mujibur Rahman, BAPA District President Professor Rabindra Chowdhury, PP Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, BRTA Senior Assistant Director Engineer Shafiqul Alam Sarker, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Kishoreganj Road Transport Association President Lanin Raihan Subra Shaheen, CAB General Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, Chamber Senior Vice President Sheikh Farid, Transport Association Leader Helal Uddin Manik, Krishek League General Secretary Anwar Hossain Bacchu and Hindu Kallan Trusti Lipu Roy. At least 150 person joining in the awareness meeting. Later a colour rally was brought out in the town.
