Young man convicted in Kalaroa

A young man named Mamun was sentenced to six months imprisonment in Kalaroa under Satkhira on Wednesday . Executive Magistrate Manira Parvin sentenced him by the mobile court in Kazirhat Bazar in the upazila . The victim is a son of Shujauddin of North Raghunathpur village adjacent to Kamirhat Bazar of Mamun Upazila. According to the Upazila Executive Office, on the basis of secret information on Wednesday evening, some officials led by Sub-Inspector Laki Khan Khan of the District Narcotics Control Department arrested Mamun with 200 grams of cannabis from his house. After that, he was sentenced to six months in court by moving a mobile court. Kolaroa Police Station OC confirmed the incident.
Human chain in Charghat to stop violence on women

A human chain was formed at Haldagachi Railway Crossing Gate under Charghat Upazila in Rajshahi demanding steps to stop violence on woman and drugs yesterday morning . The programme was organised by Association for Community Development (ACD) .The speakers at the human chain said, through the establishment of poverty eradication and gender equality since 1989, a democratic and sustainable society is working to make changes in the status and position of children, adolescents and women, ensuring social justice and good governance. Local expressed their unity that all the people should come forward to fight drug trader and violence on women. UNO Asraful Islam, AL Secretary Faqrul Islam, Pouro AL Secretary Akramul Islam, District Senior AL member Saiful Islam, Social Welfare Officer Mofize Uddin, Women Affairs Officer Simul Billa Sultana, ACD Coordinator Mostafa Kamal and PO Nahida Sultana were present.
Training for NSP beneficiaries continues
GAIBANDHA: A 3-month long basic training for the recruited beneficiaries of National Service Programme (NSP) has been continuing at six upazila headquarters of the district for few months last with much enthusiasm to them. Department of Youth Development (DYD) is supervising the training course for the beneficiary youths including women in cooperation with upazila administration, a DYD official said. The beneficiaries are being imparted training on four subjects-histories of Bengali nation, disaster management, computer discipline and self-employment. Each of the trainees is also getting Taka 100 per day as training allowance from the programme, the official said. Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), district and upazila level officials and the officials of concerned department including other experts are conducting the training sessions as resource persons. A total of 6,000 beneficiaries out of 20,000 selected candidates are taking part in the training in six upazilas at present and the rest candidates would be imparted training by turn , reports BSS.
