Police recovered the slaughtered body of an auto-rickshaw driver from the city’s Sabujbagh area on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rashed Ali Akand, 30, son of Md Sadek Ali, hailing from Chikholia village of Saghata upazila in Gaibandha district.
Being informed, a team of Sabujbagh Police Station recovered the slaughtered body from an open space at Dakkhingaon Begunbari in the early hours, said its officer-in-charge Quddus Fakir.
The reason behind the killing could not be ascertained immediately, he said, adding that the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
