Body of medical representative recovered in Kurigram

 Body of a Sales Medical Representative of IBN-Sina Pharmaceutical Ltd. was recovered from tank of a latrine at Roumari upazila of Kurigram district on Friday morning.Police arrested both Abdul Kaium and his father Abdul Latif of Baghmara village under the upazila alleging murder.The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 28, son of Taslim Uddin of Diarchar village under Roumari upazila of the district and a sales representative of the medical pharmaceutical.Officer-in-charge (OC) of Roumari police station Mokhlesur Rahman said Abdul Kaium, owner of a medical store in Roumari Bazar, beat him up with bamboo stick on Faruk’s head while he strongly charged the arrear money of selling medicine from Kaium on Monday night. Kaium kept Faruk’s dead body in a latrine tank of his house while he died there.”After three days, acting on a tip-off, police recovered his body on Friday morning,from a latrine tank of his house and recovered Faruk’s motor bike from his house. The body was sent to Kurigram morgue for autopsy,” the OC Md.abdul Baten told New Nation. A case was filed with the police station against father and son in this murder,next day the OC said.
Man chopped to death in Baraigram

Unidentified miscreants chopped Haripada Mondal, 50, in his house in Bagdoba village under Baraigram Upazila of Natore district last midnight. The assailants also injured his wife Bishkha Mondal after stabbing her indiscriminately. She was undergoing treatment in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with sever injuries. Mahafuzzaman, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Boraigram Circle, said the miscreants entered into their bedroom around 1 am and chopped Haripada Mondal and his wife Bishakha indiscriminately and fled away promptly. Haripada succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Natar Sadar Hospital for post mortem. ASP Mahfuz said the matter is being investigated thoroughly. But the reason behind the gruesome murder couldn’t be known immediately.
Huge smuggled goods, drugs seized in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR:L Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives seized huge quantity of Indian rice and drugs from Birampur upazila of the district yesterday. Fulbari BGB Commander Lt Col. Lutful Karim said BGB team conducted a drive in Ghoraghat-Hili rail crossing area of the upazila and recovered 10 tonnes Indian rice worth about Taka 86 lakh and 500 bottle of phensidyl after searching a truck. The BGB team also seized 7,000 pieces of sex stimulating tablets from Ghasuria frontier of the same upazila, he added. Different cases were filed with concerned thana in these connections, reports BSS.
10 JCD men held in Moulvibazar

Joint forces, in its drive for fourth straight day, nabbed 10 JCD men with Moulvibazar district Jatio Chatradol join conveyor from different area in the Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday up to 3pm. The detainees were, Topodhir Roy Buron, join conveyor, Moulvibazar district Jatiotabadi Chatradol unit with 10 jamaat-sibir members. Wishing anonymity an Office-in-charge, Moulvibazar Police Station Md. Azizur Rahman told, that they have received information that miscreants might conduct subversive acts centering opposition parties Law enforcers also raid residences of sadar Upazila. In this drive, joint forces detained 10 men from Sadar Upazila area, he added.

Arms recovered in Chapainawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered two pistols and four blank magazines from Kironganj frontier under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday morning. Commanding Officer of 9 BGB battalion Lieutenant Colonnel Manjurul Alom said, acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB raided the aforesaid area at around 5 am and chased one person. At this the man fled away leaving a bag from which BGB recovered the arms.

Another truck burnt down in Rajshahi
Rajshahi: Miscreants hurled petrol bombs to set a truck on fire at Kapasia on Rajshahi-Dhaka Highway under Motiher Police Station in Rajshahi around 8pm on Saturday, police said. Fire service personnel accompanied by police rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. But the truck and all the goods in it had been burnt down.
The driver and his assistant fled after the bombs were hurled and were thus not hurt.
Abdur Razzaq, Officer-in-Charge of Matihar Police Station, said nearly 25 Opposition activists had set fire to a part of the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway in Kapasia bazar in support of the blockade. That led to huge traffic congestion.As the truck loaded with plastic goods tried to turn and drive away, two petrol ombs were lobbed at it, OC Razzak added.
The truck caught fire and was completely gutted by the time the police and fire services arrived. The BNP has called off the blockade from Monday but its leaders said it would continue on Sunday. Earlier, some other goods-laden trucks were burnt down in Rajshahi, reports BSS.
