One held with 20 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel detained a youth along with 20 gold bars weighing 2 kg 340 grams worth Tk 94,80,000 raiding from Benapole port police station at around 9am on Sunday, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion said. The BGB CO told that tipped off the BGB men led by Nayeb Subedar Moniruzzaman detained Sabuj Mia, 22 of Sadipur village under Benapole port police station while he was trying to smuggle the gold bars to India.
Donations distributed at Bhangura

Donation of 13 lakh and 50 thousand was distributed to improve the health of those who were suffering from cancer and other diseases at Bhangura Upazila Awami League Office on Tuesday. On this occasion, a program was organised. Md Lokman Hossain, President of Upazila Awami League presided over the meeting. Alhaj Mokbul Hossain MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry distributed the checks of the donation money as the Chief Guest of the program. Mokbul Hossain MP said that he had handed over 36 checks from Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the treatment of 36 sick persons in Pabna-3 constituency as Bhangura, Faridpur and Chatmohar Upazila.

A 15-member executive committee was formed at the organization’s annual general meeting at a city hotel in Sylhet on 27 January. The other office bearers are Vice-president Shofiqur Rahman babul, Joint Secretary Abdul Washe, Organization Secretary Shakawath Hussain, Treasure Nuruzzaman Siddike Mukta, Office Secretary Shah Alam, Public City Secretary Abdun Nur Ruhel, Cultural Secretary Abul Hasan, Member Monir Uddin Chowdhury, Moniruzzaman Chowdhury, Shitab Ali, Shek Muhammad Azad, Mizanur Rahman, Taj Uddin Ahmed.  
Pry school student commits suicide in Chandpur
CHANDPUR: A minor girl student of primary school allegedly committed suicide after drinking poison in Sener Dighirpar area of Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. The deceased is identified as Khadiza Aktar, 11, class V student of Tarpurchandi Government Primary School and daughter of Md Nasir Gazi. Deceased’s brother, Faisal said Khadiza drank poison in the afternoon after returning from school. The on-duty doctors declared Khadiza dead after taking her to Chandpur General Hospital, reports UNB.
Man held with arms in Munshiganj  
MUNSHIGANJ: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Monday arrested a man along with arms during a drive from Sadar upazila in the district. The detainee is identified as Md Jahangir Hossain Sarkar, 39, son of Abul Kashem of Maheshpur village of Sadar upazila, Rab said in a press statement.
Acting on a tip-off, Rab members arrested Jahangir and seized a foreign pistol, a short gun, three rounds of bullets and a magazine from his possession, reports UNB.
