Tree Fair begins in Jhnaidah

A weeklong tree fair was inaugurated at Jhenaidah Old DC Court premises on Sunday morning. District administration, department of agriculture extension and the department of forestry jointly organized the programme. A colourful rally paraded the town with slogans and ended at the same venue. Presided over by additional deputy commissioner Abu Yusuf Mohammad Rezaur Rahman, senior assistant superintendent of police Shahabuddin Ahmed attended the inaugural session as chief guest. Acting deputy director of department of agriculture extension Dr. Khan Mohammad Maniruzzaman, Jhenaidah Sadar upazila nirbahi officer Yearul Islam, Jhenaidah press club president M Raihan and Mahila Awami League Jhenaidah district unit president Khaleda Khanam among others spoke. A total of 40 stalls were demonstrated in the fair with their various plats and relevant items to attract the visitors.
Minor boy killed in Naogaon road accident
NAOGAON A minor boy was killed and his parents were injured as a bus hit their motorbike at Nauhata crossing under Mahadebpur upazila of the district yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdullah, 7, son of Saiful Islam, a resident of Pathanpara area in Chapainawabganj district town. Police said the accident occurred when a bus hit the motorbike from opposite direction in the area at about 11 am, leaving the bike rider Abdullah dead on the spot and his parents were injured.The injured were sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital, reports BSS.
2 held with 500 Yaba tablets in Barisal
BARISAL: Two people were held with 500 pieces of yaba tablets in Muladi upazila of the district yesterday. The detainees are Khokon, 39 and Ashraful, 35. Officer-in-Charge of Muladi Thana Saed Ahmed said on information they conducted a raid in Nazirpur area this morning and held them with the yaba tablets. A case is being processed, , reports BSS.
40 bicycles distributed among Panchagarh girls
PANCHAGARH: Forty bicycles were distributed among girls students from different educational institutions at free of cost at a function in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon. Sadar upazila Parishad organised the function at it’s Hall Room. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Panchagarh Amol Krishno Mandal attended the function as the chief guest and distributed the cycles among the students. The DC said the cycle would help the girls student to go to school very easily. “Riding bicycle is also an exercise,” he added. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Ohadud presided over the function while upazila chairman Anowar Sadat Samrat attended as special guest. The function was addressed, among others, by vice-chairman of the upazila Aktaruzzaman and female vice-chairman Kamrun Naher Sahin, , reports BSS.

Bangladesh Mohila Parished, Kishoreganj district conference was held at Kishoreganj Press Club auditorium on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas inaugurated the conference with unit Prisident Sultana Rajia Khaled in the chair. It was addressed among others by Foujia Jalil as special guest, Ummea Salam, Women chamber leader Bilkis Begum, District Ganatantree Party President Senior Advocate Dholon Bhowmik, Journalist Sakauddin Rajon and unit General Secretary Advocate Maya Bhowmik. A colourfull rally brought out in the town. A new committee ws formed with Advocate Maya Bhowmik as President and Atia Hossion as General Secretary respectively.
