The rapid action battalion personnel in Jhenaidah have arrested a miscreant with a foreign made pistol from Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The arrested was identified as Amirul Islam, son of Saidul Islam of Nagarbathan village. Jhenaidah RAB source said, acting on a tip off, a contingent of the elite forces raided an area near Rajdharpur government primary school at about 9.00 PM and arrested the miscreant with a foreign made revolver from his possession. The arrested was an arms vendor and involved in arms trading for a couple of years in the locality. He was handed over to Jhenaidah Sadar police after an interrogation, the RAB said.
Passport Service Week begins in Nilphamari

‘Passport is citizens’ right, dedicated service is our commitment’ with this slogan, regional passport office in Nilphamari has started passport service week 2017 from Sunday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Nilphamari AJM Ershad Ahsan Habib inaugurated the passport service week in morning of the day at the office premises situated on district jail road. The passport week is likely to continue from 25 February to 2 March. The services to be provided in this week are cooperating clients to fill up passport form, distribution of awareness build up leaflets, setting up information center and making the passport office free from brokers. The passport seekers are provided service so promptly that they can get their passport in right time. The ADC talked to the people present in the passport office and listen to their problems and with his interference their problems were solved instantly. He also handed over new passports to some of the clients. Among others present on the occasion are Nezarat deputy collector (NDC) Suphol Chandra Goldar, sub assistant director of Nilphamari regional passport office Ashis Chandra Das and others. A good number of people attended the function with great enthusiasm.
Animal Resources Service Week observed

Speakers at a post rally discussion underscored the need for boosting safe animal protein production as its proper consumption is very important for building a healthy and talented nation recently. They were addressing a discussion organised by the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) at local Circuit house conference room here marking the Animal Resources Service Week 2017 (Feb 23to 27). Deputy Commissioner Narsingdi Dr Subhash Chandra Biswas earlier inaugurated the Service week here as chief guest leading a large rally. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mahabub Hasan Shahin addressed the discussion as chief guest with District Livestock officer Dr MA Samad Miah chaired the meeting . Dr Samad also delivered the welcome addressed.
Project Director, Livestock Disease Prevention & control Project Dr. Md Shafiqul Islam and District Fishery Officer Narsingdi Mohammad Tofaz Uddin addressed as special guests. Dr Taposh Kanti Datta,Upazila Livestock Officer Narsingdi Sadar, presented the key note paper. He gave an overview of the region’s animal production and its prospects. Among others Zohirul Hoque Mollah Harun General Secretary of Poultry Association, Narsingdi district and Rahan Ahmed a Poultry and Dairy khamari also addressed.
