BGB destroys narcotics worth Tk 6cr in Sylhet

BGB destroyed record number of narcotics last year in Sylhet at 10 am on Sunday. BGB destroyed various type of narcotics and liquor by bulldozer. A ceremony organized for this. Chief gust was ADBGB Major Shahed Maher, Assistant Director of 5 BGB Nurul Islam fokir, executive Magistrate Rozina Akter also attended here. BGB informed they seized these material since 24th February 2016 to 12 January 2017. It value is around Tk 6cr. After that BGB 41 seized phensidyl 223 bottles. Zensidyl syrup 555 bottles, value is around Tk 58, lakh 46 Thousand 2 hundred. Meanwhile BGB-5 and 41battalion is alert in the Indian border of Sylhet and Sunamgonj.
Housewife dies as her scarf tied up with easy bike

Poppy Khatun,27, wife of Mominur Rahman of Biprokona village under Monirampur upazila in Jessore died suddenly after her urna ( a piece of cloth used as scarf) tied up with a wheel of an easy bike while she was going to Paira village under Abhaynagar upazila from her residence at around 10:30am on Monday. The incident took place on Konakola -Nehalpur Road at Harikhali village, said Bahadur Ali, chairman, Durbadanga union council. The UP chairman and locals told that the housewife died on the spot as soon as her throat tied up with her urna to the wheel of an easy bike.
JUST Teachers’ Assoc election held
Dr Sheikh Mizanur Rahman, chairman, genetic engineering and bio-technology department was elected president of teachers association of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST)while Md Ashrafuzzaman Jahid, Assistant Professor, Nutrition and Food Technology Department as General Secretary. The election was held on Monday at the university auditorium, said the press release issued by the public relations department of the university in the afternoon. The other office -bearers of the association are Dr Mohammad Tofayel Ahmed, Vice -president, Md Abdus Samad, Assistant General Secretary, Md Rashidur Rahman, treasurer, Tanvir Ahmed, Cultural and Sports Secretary and Executive members Md Munibur Rahman, Md Rafiul Hasan, Shamima Akhter, SM Samiul Alam and Sumon Chandra Mohonto.
Digital Innovation Fair in Gaibandha on Jan 29
GAIBANDHA: An initiative had been taken to hold Digital Innovation Fair-2017 at Independence Square of the town here from January 29 to 31 through active participation of all. District administration will organize the fair under Access to Information (A2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office, office sources said. The objective of the fair is to popularize the ICT related activities among the people from all sections to help materialize the dream of building digital Bangladesh, as per vision 2021 declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A preparatory meeting to make the fair fruitful was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here on Monday afternoon with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) M. Shamsul Azam in the chair. Nezarat deputy collector Ruhul Amin Emon, district level officials, and heads of different academic and IT institutions including journalists took part in the meeting. In the meeting, various decisions including ensuring the participation of all entrepreneurs of union digital centres and students of high schools and colleges and providing ideas to the learners about lap top, projector for holding multimedia class room and contents prepared by the teachers were taken. Apart from this, initiative was also taken to display the innovative ideas and projects to lead the country towards desired development through involving the youths under Solve a Thon programme, said assistant programmer Toufiqur Rahman, reports BSS.
