Businessman’s body recovered after five days in Goainghat

The body of a businessman named Nazim Uddin (45) has been recovered five days after he went missing at Gowainghat in Sylhet. Locals informed the police when his body was found floating in the Katari area of Dauki river in Jaflong on Wednesday.
 Police later recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Nazim Uddin, son of late Abdur Rashid of Rajnagar village under Paschim Jaflong union of the upazila. He was a cloth merchant by profession.
The family of the deceased claimed that Nazim Uddin was killed in a planned manner and his body was dumped in the river. Police, meanwhile, could not confirm the cause of death as there were no signs of injuries on the body. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report, police said.
According to local sources, Nazim Uddin left for Jaflong last Saturday (February 12) morning. He never returned home. After much searching, the family members did not find him and filed a general diary at Gowainghat police station. Police recovered his body from Katari area of Dauki river in Jaflong on Wednesday.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station Parimal Chandra Dev said the body of missing Nazim Uddin was recovered and sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. After receiving the autopsy report, the exact cause of death of Nazim Uddin will be known.
