Modi singles out Pakistan for spreading terror

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has indicted Pakistan without naming as “a single nation” spreading terror in South Asia.
The PM’s remarks were made at the G-20 summit being held in China.
The relationship between India and Pakistan has plummeted with July’s shooting in Kashmir of terrorist Burhan Wani, who was lionized by Islamabad as a martyr. Wani, 22, one of the top commanders of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen was killed by security forces, inciting huge mob protests by civilians. 70 people have died and more than 10,000 left injured by the worst unrest in Kashmir in six years.

‘Plenty will be killed’ in anti-drugs drive : Philippine President

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said on Monday “plenty will be killed” before the end of his campaign against illegal drugs that has led to the death of about 2,400 people since he became president two months ago.
Duterte will meet Barack Obama at a regional summit in Laos on Tuesday, although he has made it clear he will take no lecture on human rights from the U.S. president. “Plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets. Until the (last) drug manufacturer is killed we will continue,” Duterte told reporters before leaving for Laos.

French ex-minister in court over tax fraud

A former French budget minister is going on trial for hiding part of his wealth in tax havens around the world while fighting tax evasion at home. Jerome Cahuzac is to appear in a Paris court Monday on charges of tax fraud and money laundering that forced him to resign in 2013 in one of the biggest political scandals under President Francois Hollande.

G20 to agree refugees a global issue

The G20 group will agree at their summit in China that refugees are a global issue and the burden must be shared, a senior European Union diplomat said Monday. “The communique reaffirms that it is a global issue, and requires burden-sharing among the countries,” the diplomat told reporters, shortly before the declaration was due to be released at the end of the summit.
