Locals have rescued a newborn girl from the toilet of Khagrachhari Government College. The child was rushed to Khagrachhari Maternal and Child Hospital.
The girl was rescued around 11:30 am on Monday (September 6). The Khagrachhari social service office and hospital authorities are taking care of the child. Rashmi Chakma, a lecturer at Khagrachhari Government College, said a pregnant mother left the baby in the toilet.
Hearing the sound of the baby crying, we rescued her along with office assistant Renu Dhar and brought him to the hospital.
Doctors said that the child was suffering from cold. Meanwhile, lecturer Rashmi Chakma has been breastfeeding the baby since the rescue.
Dr. Ripple Bappi Chakma, a doctor at Khagrachhari District Sadar Hospital, said the baby was fine.
Even then we will be kept under close observation by being admitted to the hospital.
Hospital social service officer Nazmul Hasan said, “The authorities have instructed me to meet all the needs including the treatment of the child.” We are constantly on the lookout.
Khagrachhari Probation Officer Preeti Vijay Chakma said since the child has no one, there is some process to determine the guardian. We will ensure the future of the child by following all those steps.
