Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested an alleged active member of Sarwar-Tamim group of banned militant outfit ‘Neo JMB’ from Rupganj of Narayanganj on Tuesday night.
Sources at the RAB headquarters said the arrestee, Hafez Syed Md Ishak alias Maulana Ishak alias Hafez Maulana Ishak, 50, was wanted by law enforcement agencies in connection with a case filed with Bandar Police Station of Narayanganj on August 22 last.
Based on secret information, a team of RAB-11 conducted drive from 8:30pm and arrested Ishak.
Based on his statement, the anti-crime specialised team recovered huge books and leaflets on extremism from his residence and shop.
During preliminary interrogation, the alleged militant revealed that he came to Dhaka after passing Dakhil examination from a madrasah of Barisal in 1996 and started clothes business.
Later, he was encouraged to be involved with militancy by one Ijaj in 2002.
