Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad on Thursday said the election to Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) was held in a free and fair manner due to proper support of the candidates and their followers.
The CEC came up with the remark while addressing a post-election press
conference at the Election Commission after the end of voting at 4 pm. Huge law enforcers were deployed in the city to ward off any untoward incident, he said. Nine EC officials were sent to each ward to observe the election, the CEC added.
