Navy’s annual sea exercise concludes

Annual sea exercise of Bangladesh Navy titled “Safe Guard-2016” came to an end on Saturday with firing of missiles in Bay of Bengal and holding of commando operation, an ISPR release said.
All the bases of Bangladesh Navy, patrol aircrafts, helicopters, high speed boats and a total of 53 warships took part in the 15-day drill with the aim of protecting sovereignty of the country, stopping infiltration and smuggling, increasing ability in carrying out rescue operation in the deep sea, safeguarding fisheries and natural resources and ensuring security of oil and gas exploration blocks.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal observed the concluding day exercise as the chief guest. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, OSP, NDC, PSC and Commander BN Fleet Commodore Sheikh Arif Mahmud welcomed him as the minister reached BNS Bangabandhu.
