Govt working to build country free from militancy

Lawmakers said the workers and leaders of the ruling Awami League is pledge bound for protecting the democracy and rule of law under the leadership of Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina as the country can go ahead and could be built free from militancy and anti-liberation force.

Taking part in the discussion on Thursday on the thanksgiving motion on the President’s address to the House, they hailed the present government of Sheikh Hasina for taking forward the country towards development.
“Due to strict position taken by Sheikh Hasina, we availed to protect the democracy through holding parliamentary election on January 5 in 2014, but BNP stands against democracy and rule of law,” said treasury bench member Golam Mostafa of Nilphamari-3.
Criticizing the BNP, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman said the country achieved significant progress in different sphere, but a section of people didn’t see the development.
Our per capita income has significantly raised …so we didn’t see the group of people who were engaging in begging particularly on Friday, he added.
Regarding the BNP’s threat on Khaleda Zia’s possible verdict on February 8, he urged the BNP leaders and activists to abandon unruly way as the BNP’s 90-days country-wide strike proved that what a strength had the party.
About the salary structure of the government employees, the minister said the government has raised the salary of the govt employees plus giving ‘Boishakhi allowance’ annually.
The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.
Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
Treasury bench members Motahar Hossain of Lalmonirhat-1, Momtaz Begum of Manikanj-2, also addressed in the thanks giving motion.
