Bangladesh Navy emerged as the champions of the Independence Day Basketball Tournament beating Bangladesh Army by 70-55 points in the final at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium in the city on Friday.
The winners led the first half by 30-26 points.
Mithun of Bangladesh Navy top-scored with 22 points, while his teammate Shoaib caged 19 points.
On the other hand, Wadud of Bangladesh Army scored 16 points, while his teammate Ataur netted 14 points.
Meanwhile, Barder Guard Bangladesh finished third defeating Shaons Club by 63-39 points in a place-deciding match at the same venue on the same day.
After the final match, Secretary of the National Sports Council Md Masud Karim distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) Mainul Ahsan Monju, General Secretary of BBF and Secretary General of South Asian Basketball Association Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarkar, Joint-Secretary of BBF Khairul Alam Farhad, Treasurer of the Federation Wasif Ali were present at the time, among others.
