National seminar on mobile banking services

Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) on Monday organized a daylong national seminar on ‘Impact of Mobile Banking on Financial Inclusion in Bangladesh’ at its auditorium in the city.
Md. Mahbubur Rahman Alam, Associate Professor of BIBM presented a keynote on mobile banking service in the country.
The major objectives of the paper is to understand the impact of mobile banking on financial inclusion in Bangladesh including current status, progress, regulations, available products and their characteristics, agent network size and geographical coverage, and the competitive landscape. The next objective is to have a better understanding of how people are using both traditional and mobile financial services including users’ satisfaction.
The paper will be finalized after accommodating suggestions and comments from designated discussants and participants of the research workshop.
Nazneen Sultana, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank was present in the seminar as the chief guest. She underscored the importance of mobile banking in financial inclusion.
Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director, Dhaka Bank Ltd, Abul Kashem Md. Shirin, Deputy Managing Director, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd, Kamal Saifur Quadir, Chief Executive Officer, bKash Limited and Dr. M. Rokonuzzaman, Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University were present in the seminar.
 Dr. Prashanta Kumar Banerjee, Professor and Director (RD&C), BIBM delivered the welcome address. Dr. Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, Director General of BIBM chaired the first session of the seminar and gave his introductory remarks whereas Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Super Numerary Professor of BIBM chaired the second session and gave his concluding remark in the seminar.
A good number of high officials of different banks participated in the seminar.
