A fire that broke out at a cock-sheet godown in the Nitaigonj area of Narayanganj Wednesday morning was brought under control within an hour, officials said.
The blaze started around 10.25am and was brought under control around 11.30am, said Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj fire service.
“As many as seven fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames completely,” he said, reports UNB.
A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage, the officer said.
bdnews24.com adds: A fire has broken out at a caulk sheet warehouse in the Nitaiganj Upazila in Narayanganj. The blaze broke out at 10:30 am on Wednesday morning. The Fire Service has not been able to ascertain the cause of the fire or the extent of the damages so far.
The commercial area, which houses about a hundred factories and warehouses, is close to the Narayanganj City Corporation offices.
Locals said that the narrow streets of the commercial area have made it difficult for the Fire Service vehicles to get to the scene of the blaze directly.
