BSS, Dhaka :
After showing much promise on his just second Test and his first overseas Test, opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was ruled out of the entire series against New Zealand following a finger injury.
Joy who scored 78 runs in the first innings to give Bangladesh a solid platform in the first Test, sustained the injury during fielding on day four of the match.
Physio Bayezidul Haque informed that Joy needed to be observed at least seven to 10 days after which his condition would be assessed. The second Test in Christchurch will be held on January 9, which meant Bangladesh wouldn’t get the service of the young opener.
“He needed three stitches on his finger. He is in medication and will be observed seven to 10 days after which his condition will be determined further,” the physio said.
Selector Habibul Bashar Sumon however said that Naim Sheikh, who was included in the side as third opener could replace Joy in the second Test as an opener if the team management wants.
