DU Correspondent :
A teacher of the Dhaka University has been forced to leave his job with the blame of harassing two female students of the same varsity sexually.
The teacher identified as Shahadat Hossain, Sociology Department, resigned his job under duress after the university administration became sure of his guilt.
The university syndicate in a meeting took the decision after a long discussion
about the subject.
The varsity’s ‘Anti-Women Oppression Cell’ investigated the charges brought against the teacher and got primary evidence.
DU Pro-VC, Professor Nasrin Ahmed, in-charge of the cell, said, “We took the issue seriously and formed a five-member investigation committee.
On June 27, the two students of the Sociology Department complained against the teacher relating to the sexual issue. After investigation, we took the proper action, said DU VC Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique.
However, refusing the complaint, Professor Shahadat said, I am totally innocent. To defame me only, they have brought the fake accusation.
Certain quarters conspired against me out of resentment at my professional success. So they induced two former students to file charge against him, he added.
A teacher of the university said that the students phoned him at night and expressed their satisfaction over the syndicate decision.
