Myanmar’s maritime trade reaches over $5b in over 2 months

Myanmar’s foreign trade through sea routes reached 5.49 billion U.S. dollars as of Dec. 21 in present fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019 which started in October, the Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday.
From Oct. 1 to Dec. 21, the country’s maritime export amounted to 1.97 billion U.S. dollars while its import shared 3.52 billion U.S. dollars.
The total trade via sea route increased by 420 million U.S. dollars compared to the same period of the last FY 2017-2018 when it showed 5.06 billion U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, the country’s total foreign trade registered over 7.4 billion U.S. dollars with 1.91 billion U.S. dollars’ border trade during the period.
The country’s agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products are mostly exported to foreign countries.
