A 34-year-old woman and her daughter were found dead in a house in Nayagaon’s No-3 Ghat area here on Saturday, police and hospital sources said, reports BSS.
“Police recovered the bodies from the spot… A rope was found near their bodies, and the bodies bore injury marks on their necks,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamrangirchar police station Mostafizur Rahman told BSS.
The OC said they are investigating the matter. Preliminary investigation, however, revealed that there were some family disputes over financial crisis, he added.
Hospital sources said the deceased were identified as Phulbanshi Das, 34, and her 11-year-old daughter Sumi Das. Hailed from Cumilla, they used to reside in the rented house in Kamrangirchar area for 10 years.
Fulbanshi’s husband Mukunda Chandra Das and another daughter Jhuma Das are being quizzed in this connection.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
The OC said Fulbanshi’s husband Mukunda Chandra works as a part-time day laborer and they all live in one room in the house.
A case was filed with concerned police station in this connection.
