Chittagong Bureau :
Hajj Pilgrims Welfare Council(HPWC) demanded adequate hajj flights from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport to Jeddah as per numbers of hajj pilgrims from Chittagong division.
More than 20 thousand pilgrims from greater Chittagong will perform hajj this year . In a statement of President of HPWC Ahmedul Islam Chowdhury and the Secretary General Principal Dr. Abdul Karim said it is very much woeful that a numbers of hajj flights are being operated from Dhaka airport daily whereas a few numbers of hajj flights fromChittagong declared from August 5 last .
As such Chittagong based hajj pilgrims are in utter incertainty following the non-declaration of more hajj flight schedule from Chittagong as yet.
Hajj agency sources said there are 9 thousands hajj pilgrims from only Chittagong district but the present hajj flights so declared can carry not more than 4 thousands . The Chittagong based hajj agencies are repeatedly enquiring the Biman office here but failed to get any positive response.
The statement was told that only few numbers of flights from Chittagong is not at all desirable like previous years but demanded adequate numbers of flights as per numbers of intending pilgrim.
HPWC urged immediate intervention of the Prime Minister to resolve the long felt demand of the people of Chittagong region, sources said.
