Zia Trust case: More cross-exam on April 28

As the lawyers of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, could not complete cross-examining complainant Harun-or-Rashid, Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission, the court fixed April 28 for further cross-examination.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka passed the order in his makeshift court set up on
Alia Madrasa premises of Bakshibazar in the city on Thursday after partial cross examination of the complainant. BNP Chief Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Abdur Razzak Khan cross-examined the complainant in absence of his client.
Apart from BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, the other accused of the case are BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, former BNP lawmaker Kazi Saleemul Haque, businessperson Sharfuddin Ahmed, Khaleda’s former Principal Secretary Kamal Uddin Siddiqui and former President Ziaur Rahman’s nephew Momenur Rahman.
The ACC filed the graft case on July 3 in 2008 with Ramna Model Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia and five others of misappropriating Tk over 2.10 crore, which came as grant for orphans.
