A study, conducted by International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), shows that one woman is being affected by cervical cancer in every five cancer patients in Bangladesh. Around 12,000 women are affected by cervical cancer every year.
It reveals that the cervical cancer among women is in the fourth position across the globe while second in Bangladesh.
“Many women of our country feel shy to talk about their health problems especially regarding breast and cervical. But it is not a matter of shame…Patients and their family member should come forward without feeling any shy,” said Habibullah Talukder Raskin, associate professor of National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital and also the convener of the rally.
